We use personal information to operate the directory. We do not sell personal information.
Information we collect
When you submit a listing
We collect the name and email address you provide, sale address, city, province or state, dates, hours, description, item categories and uploaded photos. The public listing displays sale details, but not the submission email address.
When you sign in or save a listing
Supabase Auth processes your email address for sign-in. Saved-listing information may be stored in your browser and, when available, associated with your signed-in account.
When you browse
If you choose to share your location, it is used to find nearby sales. Standard technical records can include IP address, browser type, device information, requested pages and the time of a request.
How we use information
- Review, publish, locate and manage garage sale listings.
- Authenticate accounts and provide saved-listing features.
- Respond to questions and communicate about listing status.
- Protect the site from spam, misuse and fraudulent submissions.
- Measure and improve the service when optional consent is provided.
- Meet legal, security and operational obligations.
User-submitted content and listing accuracy
Sellers are responsible for the accuracy of dates, times, addresses, descriptions and photos. By submitting content, you confirm that you have the right to provide it. You retain ownership and give Garage Hoppers a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display the content on the directory and in related promotion. We may reject or remove fraudulent, inappropriate or guideline-breaking listings.
Data retention
Listing and account information is retained for as long as reasonably needed to operate the service, maintain records, address abuse or meet legal obligations. Public listings may remain in historical records after their sale dates pass. You may request account deletion or removal of personal information by contacting us. Service providers apply their own retention settings to information they process.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to personal information, correct inaccurate information, withdraw optional consent or request deletion. Garage Hoppers is operated in Canada and is committed to applicable Canadian privacy requirements, including PIPEDA where it applies. We will also respond to valid requests under applicable provincial, state or federal privacy laws.
Third-party services
Garage Hoppers uses service providers for hosting, databases, authentication, email, maps, address geocoding, analytics and advertising. These can include Vercel, Supabase, OpenStreetMap contributors, Nominatim, Google and Meta. Providers may process technical information under their own terms and privacy policies.
Children
Garage Hoppers is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Contact us if you believe a child has submitted personal information so we can review and remove it.
